Hindustan Zinc – the world largest installation of adiabatic coolers
Especially in states of India where water shortage is very high it’s necessary to implement water saving technologies and optimise production processes. ICL is working on the biggest ever adiabatic cooling project for Hindustan Zink Ltd (HZL) in Rajasthan (India).
Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) a subsidiary of Vedanta Group (Vedanta Resources Plc., UK has Global interests in Zinc, Copper, Aluminum, Lead, Silver etc., and is currently operating its mines & smelters in India, Zambia, Australia, Armenia, etc.
The approved Roaster-5 project comprise of the following major processing units:
- Concentrate handling and feeding
- Fluidized bed roaster & gas cleaning plant
- Calcine storage & distribution system
- Sulphuric acid plant
For the cooling of above Roaster 5 processes and existing Roaster 4 processes (954 tpd of Zinc concentrate capacity) 74 large size adiabatic coolers are designed and installed at site. Total process flow rate is 11000 CMH.
